ECON-201: Economic Thinking for Planners and Developers

This online course will help make the connection between planning and developing that is needed in community revitalization and sustainability. The economic viability of a community is critical, but most planners don’t understand the depths of local economies. This course – offered by Peter Gordon, PhD at the University of Southern California’s School of Policy, Planning and Development – will help participants understand the economics involved in land use and mortgage lending as well as the economic impact that real estate, transportation and health care has on development. Topics include economic thinking, pricing and markets, labor markets, transportation markets, political economics and more.
