America’s Rental Housing: Meeting Challenges, Building on Opportunities

The housing crisis and the subsequent struggle to find affordable housing has not only been a problem for homeowners, but for renters as well. Rental vacancy rates are decreasing while fees have risen due to increased demand.  Complicating the issue is the economic crisis and high unemployment rates. Access to affordable housing is critical in communities with high foreclosure rates as affected families are in financial crisis and need swift resolutions.
