The Future of Mortgage Lending: What’s In Store?
Last spring, a roundtable titled “Navigating Uncertain Waters: Mortgage Lending in the Wake of the Great Recession” was held with the intention of helping government, corporations, academics and nonprofit organizations address their needs related to credit availability. This roundtable – hosted by the Furman Center’s Institute for Affordable Housing Policy at NYU – included 75 policymakers and academics and included three discussion sessions, information on housing finance and recommendations for the future. A report on this event is now available here.
This report, which is meant to share insights with stakeholders that were realized during the event, provides the premise behind that event, the current state of mortgage lending, an overview of each presentation and the keynote address, highlights from the discussion, and additional resources.
