Maryland Finding: Close-In Housing Has Held Value Better
A study conducted by the Maryland Department of Planning has found that home values in areas more densely developed and designed for growth have maintained their value better than those in outlying areas. Although home values in outlying areas generally sold for higher prices, the homes within densely developed areas held their value better. The article describes the sustainable growth initiatives in the state of Maryland, including a task force made up of representatives from development, environmental and agricultural communities, and the state’s sustainable growth strategy, called PlanMaryland.
