Should I Stay or Should I Go? Exploring the Effects of Housing Instability and Mobility on Children

This report examines the impact of affordable housing options on family life and compares the role that affordable housing has on residential stability. It looks at the mobility patterns of low-income families and the effects that these patterns have on children. Researchers wanted to see if lower-income families moved more often, whether the moves were planned, whether or not those moves had an effect on the children’s’ well-being and other issues. The research showed that lower-income families do in fact move more often, the moves are typically unplanned and the effects on children are negative. Each topic area is described and examined in full.  Read more
