Converting Dorms Into Affordable Housing

Long Island Community Development Corporation, a NeighborWorks organization, got creative in its search for affordable housing development opportunities and is refurbishing two off-campus dormitories that previously belonged to Hofstra University. This project is not only providing 94 affordable rental units to families in need, but is providing the agency with much-needed development opportunity and putting buildings “back on the tax roles.”
