Diversity in the Boston Area Continues to Deepen
According to the Census Bureau, minorities are expected to become the majority in the U.S. by the year 2050. This is already the case in many cities, including Lawrence and Chelsea, Massachusetts. This article provides demographic data regarding immigrant and minority populations in several Boston-area cities and provides reasons for growth of immigrant populations as well as issues related to segregation and integration. It also covers how the housing and foreclosure crisis have hit minority communities harder than other populations.
